Understanding
the Times

Where are we at this moment? How did we get here? Let’s look back at the past 25 years and what the journey could look like moving forward.

The Conversation Re-Ignites

We have a rich history of problem solvers in the Church. And yet the conversation had periods where it went dormant.

As we entered the dawn of a new century, in the late 1990s and early 2000s the conversation surged in many forms and it had many terms. Some “Business as Mission” had a geographical focus.

It was a small conversation of scattered pioneers. Fragmented Movement that feels like scattered lilly pads.

Books and conferences created spaces for ongoing conversations. Pioneering what it looked like to see all aspects of business as ministry. From what happened inside the walls and ledgers to the opportunities in our communities and around the world.

Faith and Work Conversation

Language like “Work as Worship” became a normalized phrase and brought a Faith and Work mindset to be on mission wherever God has us.

This broad conversation swept from cubicles to corner offices and there was a deeper understanding, Work Matters to God.

Over the years faithful leaders like Tim Keller, JD Greear, Tom Nelson.

Authors, Pastors, Churches and ministries like Crown Financial, Generous Giving and Generosity Path encouraged us to be generous. New models of giving emerged with the growth of Donor Advised Funds.

Growing access to information and opportunity led to an increasing number of different ministries in the past 10 years.

Today, there are 1.85 Million different non profit ministries that exist (And that is only measuring those in the US) At the same time, the volume of conversation grew. Donor Advised Funds went from cutting edge to normative.

But most of it required givers and investors each doing individual diligence in either giving or investing to sort through thousands of ministries whether it was church planting, clean water or anything else! Many times it took a pioneer spirit and commitment to get involved at scale.

The “New” Problem Solver

In the last 20 years, nothing has scaled faster than the idea of entrepreneurship.

What once required a search through history books now fills today’s headlines—reusable rockets, self-driving cars, AI, and more. Entrepreneurs shape culture, markets, and the way we live.

They’re also reshaping how we solve problems. Self-sustaining businesses have become powerful vehicles for lasting change. It’s woven into our past and central to our future.

That’s why organizations like Impact Foundation and Trustbridge have emerged—expanding the conversation to include investing and giving from Donor Advised Funds as catalytic tools to tackle the world’s greatest challenges.

Reducing Friction.
Making Complex Accessible.

The complexity of the world’s problems demands all of us—Entrepreneurs, Investors, Givers, Church and Ministry Leaders. It will take vibrant communities, supported by a trusted backbone, to rise to the challenge.

Looking to the next decade, we feel a deep conviction: the road must become more accessible. How do we reduce friction and open wider pathways for engagement?

We believe shared branding and a unified platform can accelerate trust, shorten the distance from passion to scaled action, and connect trusted partners to fuel every step along the way.

Multiplying Together.
Communities and Funds.

In the 1980s, the investment world changed forever. We stopped picking individual stocks, and funds transformed the markets—ushering in a new era of scale, efficiency, and impact.

We believe giving is at a similar inflection point. As Builders, Investors, and Givers, we don’t just solve problems—we invest for Kingdom impact. Under God’s power and for His glory, we steward resources to drive real and lasting change.

We’ve already seen what’s possible. Initiatives like Illuminations have accelerated Bible translation, saving decades of work and multiplying reach.

So what if collaboration became the norm? Imagine a family of funds—accessible to all—led by seasoned investors and givers who open the way for others. A model where businesses, churches, and individuals of every capacity, from the rich young ruler to the widow with her mite, can join in solving the world’s greatest problems—together.
